Most of the information was obtained from the village of Dekko in the heart of the Bone region. After conducting interviews with village elders and plantation workers and then exploring the cave, it is very possible that a family of Suku Oni inhabited the area until the late 1950s or early 1960s. Most people felt that they relocated to another area after being betrayed by the villagers. However a couple of farmers who have fields near the cave entrance still felt that one or two individuals might of stayed behind and inhabit the cave to this very day. It is also claimed that deep in the recesses of the cave lies a large chamber where a village made of stone and wood is to be found. However due to the extremely narrow size of the passages and cavities it has never actually been seen.
My personal feeling is that due to extreme habitat loss occurring throughout the island and a lack of recent encounters that these pygmy hominins went extinct some decades ago.The objective now would be to find their physical remains as well as artifacts associated with them. (Mister Dan).
The very first cryptid that I investigated was the anomalous primate historically called Orang Dalam ( Interior Man ). More commonly known today as Orang Mawas or the Johor Hominid, this creature is said to inhabit the lowland rain forests,or what’s left of them in the southern Malaysian states of Johor and Pahang.
Although the controversial hairs were found in two very distinct regions, the Kingdom of Bhutan and Lahdak State
in India, I feel that there are two other areas where more evidence for the Dzu Teh-Yeti Bear connection could be found. My top two regions for the independent researcher would be both in Nepal. The extremely remote Kanchenjunga region which straddles both Nepal and Sikkim,India and the western Dhaulagiri range, particularly the valleys and mountains enclosing the Konabon Glacier. Both of these areas have a considerable amount of historic Yeti reports and below is a brief photographic overview of these two magnificent regions.
Much has been written in the annals of cryptozoology about the wild man of central China but very few foreigners have actually conducted field research in the region.Below are a series of photos taken from my Febuary 2010 Yeren investigation deep into Hubei province.I had just finished a 6-month stint as an ESL teacher in the city of Nanning and my reward was a weeklong cryptozoological excursion into the infamous Shennongjia National Park.An incredibly diverse region with habitats ranging from sub-tropical to alpine and Yeren reports since time immemorial.
Shennongjia Museum of Natural History where Yeren casts and a model are supposedly on display. After successfully getting through two checkpoints I walked around the town in search of accommodation. After passing a large police station several times I found a small hotel where I checked in without any difficulties. For the next few hours I wandered around the outskirts of town looking for trailheads as well as the museum.
After finding several interesting paths into the forest I headed back to town and just along the main road I came across a billboard for the Museum of Natural History. It shows a Yeren that significantly differs from what is usually presented in the western media.Often a very shaggy looking beast with a large lion-like mane is depicted.Yet here the Yeren is very hominin in nature and could easily be interpreted as form of Pieking Man(Homo erectus). To my understanding the tracks are very similar to a Sasquatch/Bigfoot but much smaller which would indicate a man-sized creature and most reports ,albeit rare ,would corroborate this.
